Most PhD students take a licentiate degree after about half of the time. At this point a licentiate thesis is presented.

PhD and licentiate theses presented at the Department of Mathematics are listed under Publications.

When a student is admitted to the PhD education program, the department must make sure that the student can earn his or her living during the education. This is usually done by applying for a paid position at the department. The competition for such positions is of course tough. Many PhD students choose to spend 20% of their time teaching courses at undergraduate level. In this case, the period is extended to five years.

On these pages you will find information about PhD studies, intended for PhD students, their supervisors and for those considering to apply.
